As part of out word study the class has begun to engage in a number of activities related to the use of dictionaries. We have looked at the way they are organized, some effective strategies we can adopt to quickly find words and also to see how we can find related words (synonyms) and also looked at word families. Once the class is comfortable using dictionaries – both electronic and print – we will begin our introduction to Thesauruses.
Can I please request that you encourage your children to use dictionaries as often as possible. It’s one way they can expand their vocabularies.
