Day 1
We started the week by trying some traditional Omani sweets and watching the ladies doing some intricate weaving. We also listened to an Arabic folk tale in both Arabic and English.
Day 2
On Sunday we visited Liwa fort, unfortunately nobody bothered to turn up for work that day, so the fort was shut, we knocked and knocked and in the end we walked around before heading off for the Wadi Jizi Dam. We took a long walk across the top hoping to find water but all to no avail. It was really exciting to find goat hoof prints in the sediment and we were able to collect samples.
Day 3
Today we had a fabulous craft day thanks to a few wonderful parent helpers. We set up stations and made Omani prayer beads, fabric weaving, Omani pottery, shell mobiles, khanjars, bamboo wind chimes and baked delicious donuts.
Day 4
An early start for our adventure to Nakhal fort and the hot springs. We wound our way through the maze like fort, exploring the various rooms and passages and climbing up to the battlements for fantastic views over the village. hurrying through the jails to avoid being detained we set off for a cool down and picnic at the hot springs. On our return we stopped at lulu for ice cream before returning back to school. A fabulous day was had by all.
