While Grade Three, Four and Five is practicing performing music, Grade Two is learning about composing music. Just like a story needs a clear beginning, middle and end, so does a song. We looked for inspiration in things that interested us, and things in nature to help find it. We complete a Draw-Label-Caption to help organize our inspiration.

Then we started using our instruments to start composing and noting down our songs. We know that we have successfully noted a song down when someone else can take our sheet music and play our song!

Once we had our inspiration, we had to learn a few things about music. Luckily, we knew a bit already. We mainly focused on beats per measure and rhythm. We decided our songs would be easier to write if they had 4 beats per measure.
