First of all, I would like to thank you all for your support and understanding last Wednesday. Closing the school is always a difficult decision but when there are significant factors outside of our control, like a power cut, then we often have no alternative. The power eventually came back on and the teachers had a very productive meeting until the power went down again!

Apparently, some very brave or stupid individuals have been stealing the metals from the transformer near the school and this has been the cause of the problems.

I would like to invite you to attend our curriculum evening on Monday at six o’clock. This will be an opportunity for you to find out more about what your children will be learning this year and for you to meet the teachers. At the beginning of the evening I will be making a short, 15 to 20 minute, presentation and then you will have plenty of time with the class and subject teachers. These evenings are very important and I would encourage you to attend if at all possible.

Monday’s meeting will be focused around curriculum and learning but there will also be opportunities to discuss other matters in the near future. In November I will be holding a meeting to talk about the future developments at the school and will let you know the dates as soon as they are finalised.

Last Wednesday, we send out an e-mail to all parents providing some information about dates. If you did not receive this e-mail it is probable that we either have the wrong e-mail address or that you are not on the list. In this case, could you please contact Assila with the correct e-mail address so that we can add you to this important list.

School is already running along well and two grades are involved in day trips this week. The Grade 8 students are going to visit some camels and the Grade 2 students are exploring the beach. I would like to thank all of the parents who will be supporting these ventures!

Enough for now. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
