“If I could come back in 10 years, I still would like to see the close bond between the teachers and the students because that’s what makes each student in ABIS successful.”
– Nicole
Since when have you been studying at ABIS?
At the end of Grade 4 (April 2012)
What is your most memorable moment and why?
I don’t have a specific memorable moment but all of the explore Oman trips were special to me because it gave us a chance to bond together as a class and do certain activities we usually don’t do. Out of the country trips were also memorable to me as we get to experience different cultures and activities while representing our school.
What / Who has been most inspirational to you at ABIS and why?
My friends. They know how to push me to do my best and seeing them successful in a particular thing, makes me want to try my best and achieve what I could get. They have been helpful to me as well for when times get hard, just being around them instantly makes me feel better.
What will you miss about ABIS when you leave?
I will definitely miss the close bond between the teachers and students because I know it is not like that anywhere else. I will also miss the school events that were made to strengthen school spirit as well as to celebrate students’ talents. Overall, I will miss the people and the kind teachers who put up with everything to make sure we’re getting through it everyday.
What message would you like to leave behind for your juniors?
Time is a very important part of your IB journey. Learning how to manage it well and following through your plans, strictly, will help you pace out your tasks and will feel less stress later on. Even if you think you have plenty of time to do one task, you don’t. It’s better to start as soon as possible rather than having to wait at the very last minute.
This being said, taking advantage of the time that you have is important as well. Not too long now, it will be your turn to graduate and leave. Take advantage of the time that you have with your classmates, teachers, friends and family.
Lastly, don’t feel too pressured if you still don’t know what you want to do in the future yet. You’re still young and you have time to figure out what you want to do. However, if you’re planning on getting into a university soon, start thinking of the possibilities of what you want to do and what will make you happy.
What are your dreams for the future?
I’m still unsure of which specific profession I want to do in the future but regardless of what it is, my dream in life is to live comfortably and provide for the people I love and care about like my family. I want to give back what they have done for me.
If you could come back in 10 years, what would you like to see not changed about ABIS and why?
If I could come back in 10 years, I still would like to see the close bond between the teachers and the students because that’s what makes each student in ABIS successful.
Whom would you like to thank for making your IB journey successful and why?
I would like to thank all of my teachers for never giving up on me especially when I couldn’t meet a deadline on time. For all of the times I missed a deadline, you never gave up checking up on me and making sure I have everything I need to finish one task. Thank you for continuing to believe in me that I could get through it even when I haven’t been a good student or truthful. I would also like to apologise for all of the times I caused you stress and trouble.
I would like to thank my parents as well for supporting me throughout my IB journey. Without their help, support and understanding at home, I wouldn’t be able to catch up on my work and would continue to suffer balancing my personal life and my school work.
A message from Mr Tomalin..
A message from your teachers..
