Grade Four have started ISA this week. ISA is a standardised test in English which is used around the world in international schools to determine and compare standards in literacy and mathematics. Children from grades three and upwards are given the tests, which are spread out over two days, with a third day for “make ups”. Tests are sent overseas for marking and a few months later, results are sent to the school.

Today was our first day and students worked diligently to complete three of the five assessments this morning. After the test, some children were asked their opinions on what they had done.

Here are their responses:

Prishanthi – it’s good for learning
Yann – it’s interesting
Newton – the math was quite easy
Trina – you can learn a lot from ISA
Jade – it was scary because you can get it wrong
Claire – it’s a test and I don’t mind them
Deema – it’s quite easy
Courtney – it’s just right for me. I think it will show what I know. I noticed my mistakes when I went back and checked and I changed them
Tahlyn – I think it’s a little bit easy
