Welcome back everyone and a big welcome to our new students!
This year looks to be a fabulous year with loads happening both in class and out. I can’t wait!
Some housekeeping reminders for returnees and requests for newies:
School colours are white, blue, khaki and brown; footwear with a back strap (no “crocs” please) and please bring a hat. No large logos or pictures on the clothing and definitely no denim. Water bottles are a must – we have a fridge in which to keep liquid cool, as well as lunches should you so desire. There is no facility to heat lunches, so please don’t bring anything to school which will taste icky if cold. A reminder we are a nut free school.
ABIS supplies all stationery such as pencils, colours, rulers and sharpeners – but it’s okay to bring your own if you have something special. Do remember though that naming all your items is a VERY good idea, and please don’t bring anything valuable.
As each year, students participate in a full programme, including specials, which for Grade Four are:
Arabic – Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays for all students, with additional classes (as well as the previous three days) on Sunday and Wednesday for our Mother Tongue speakers.
Dance – Sundays
Music – Sundays and Tuesdays
PE – Tuesdays and Wednesdays – stay tuned for news, especially about swimming, from Mr. Carberry, our PE teacher. Grade Four students will need to bring a change of clothes on these days.
A reminder that Art is now part of the regular classroom programme; however, the secondary Art teacher, Mr. Hampton, has said we could use the Art space if it was free and we had something really messy. Students will need to bring an art smock or old shirt to protect their clothes for those times.
There will be further news about Math, Language, and our Units of Inquiry (Science and Social Studies) coming up soon!
Students – I am always interested in having parent helpers, so tell your families!
