🎨 Visual Arts – End-of-Term Update
Dear Parents,
As we come to the end of another creative and inspiring term, our young artists have explored a variety of artistic techniques, developed new skills, and expressed their ideas through art. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, confidence, and artistic understanding grow throughout the term.
🌟 What Have We Learned This Term?
Throughout our Visual Arts lessons, students have had opportunities to develop important artistic skills, including:
- Creativity and Imagination: Exploring personal ideas and finding unique ways to express themselves.
- Artistic Techniques: Experimenting with different materials, tools, colours, shapes, and textures.
- Observation and Visual Thinking: Looking closely at details, exploring artistic styles, and developing their ability to communicate through images.
- Problem-Solving and Independence: Making artistic decisions, overcoming challenges, and developing their own solutions.
- Collaboration and Reflection: Sharing ideas, working together, and reflecting on their progress and achievements.
🖼️ Celebrate Our Young Artists!
Most classes have completed their learning activities and end-of-term reflections. We warmly invite parents to visit Seesaw to view their children’s artwork and celebrate their creativity, effort, and progress throughout the term.
🎨 Looking Ahead: Grade 1 and Grade 6
Grade 1 and Grade 6 will continue working on their current art projects after the break. This additional time will allow students to refine their ideas, develop their techniques, and complete their artwork with care.
💡 Keeping Creativity Alive During the Break
Parents can encourage children’s creativity at home through simple, enjoyable activities:
- Keep a small sketchbook for drawing everyday objects, family members, or favourite places.
- Explore colours, patterns, and textures using materials found at home.
- Visit an art gallery or museum, or explore artworks online and discuss what makes each piece interesting.
- Encourage children to talk about their artwork, explain their choices, and celebrate the process rather than focusing only on the final result.
Remember, creativity grows through curiosity, experimentation, and the freedom to make mistakes!
Thank you, dear parents, for your continued support and encouragement. Your partnership plays an important role in helping our students grow as confident, imaginative, and independent young artists.
🎨 Ideas for Grade 1 and Grade 6 after the break
Grade 1 – Family Portrait
Students can refine their family portraits by adding details, expressive lines, shapes, colours, and textures. They can also reflect on how the seven elements of art—line, shape, colour, texture, space, form, and value—help communicate their ideas.

Grade 6 – Migration Painting
Students can continue developing their migration-inspired paintings by refining the figures, movement, and landscape. Drawing inspiration from Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series, they can use dynamic Cubist shapes, expressive colours, and layered compositions to communicate a story about migration.
🌈 Wishing all our students and families a wonderful and relaxing holiday filled with happiness, creativity, and beautiful memories together!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term of artistic exploration and discovery.
Warm regards,
Sanaa Hamdallah Elbayed
