Grade 4 students continued developing their understanding of health-related fitness by designing their own fitness circuits. They worked collaboratively to select exercises, organise their circuits and consider how different activities can challenge the body. Students also developed their ability to communicate ideas and make decisions as part of a team.
Grade 5 students focused on analysing their fitness performance using data. They plotted their results based on the number of repetitions completed and compared their performance with their partners. This allowed students to identify similarities and differences in performance and begin using data to reflect on their fitness levels and progress.
Grade 6 students took their data analysis further by plotting their own and their partner’s heart-rate results on graphs. They then used their video reflections to discuss what the results showed about how the heart responds to exercise, including the role of stroke volume and how fitness levels can influence heart-rate responses. Students were developing their ability to interpret data and use scientific understanding to explain their findings. Here are a few photos of them working on their graphs.
