Spanish – This Week

This week, our Spanish classes have continued to make steady progress, with students increasingly using Spanish as a tool to describe, express ideas, and connect language with their own experiences.

G11 Spanish ab initio – VIVO Y VEO EL MUNDO

As part of our unit VIVO Y VEO EL MUNDO, within the theme of Identities, students have been developing their ability to describe people and express what makes someone special to them. This week, they took an exciting step by writing their first poem in Spanish, dedicated to a person they consider special or important in their lives. We also continued immersing ourselves in Spanish through a game of “Adivina quien” (Guess Who?), using descriptive language in a fun and interactive way. It has been wonderful to see students becoming increasingly comfortable experimenting with their new language.

G12 Spanish ab initio – Experiences

In G12, we continued exploring our unit on Experiences, focusing particularly on experiences that change us and contribute to who we are. We discussed how experiences such as moving to another country or welcoming a new sibling into the family can transform the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. While engaging in these discussions, students have also been consolidating their use of past tenses, exploring the different ways Spanish allows us to talk about past experiences and events.

G12 Spanish B

This week, our Spanish B student focused on the instructional text type and the use of imperative verbs. To put these skills into practice in an authentic context, she led an entire session in Spanish, giving instructions to make a crochet fish. This was a wonderful opportunity to put her oral skills into practice, communicate spontaneously, and develop greater fluency while using precise instructional language.
