It has been another busy week in Grade 5!

In our Unit of Inquiry, we have fully delved into mindfulness and self-regulation strategies. Working in mixed groups, students tried out a range of approaches including mindful breathing, colouring, stretching and journaling, before reflecting on how each strategy made them feel and how useful it might be for them personally. Hopefully, students have picked up some really important strategies that will be useful well beyond this unit, helping them understand how they can calm their brains and better regulate their emotions.

We have also continued to be busy in Writing, developing our personal narratives, while in Maths we have continued exploring place value and working with numbers.

Next week, we will continue writing our personal narratives, with an increased focus on how to revise and edit our work. In Maths, our number work will continue, while in our Unit of Inquiry we will bring together our learning about thoughts, feelings and behaviours with the mindfulness strategies we have explored, using role plays to apply these ideas to different situations.

We’re looking forward to another great week of learning!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Kind regards,
Mr. G and Miss Megan
