Grade 3C had another active, inquiry-filled week as we mapped out the human body, investigated non-fiction text features, and strengthened our place value skills!

Unit of Inquiry: Human Body & Healthy Choices

  • Organ Mapping Activity: Students worked together to place organ cutouts where they predicted each organ belongs.
  • Big Inquiry Questions: We explored how our bodies function by asking: Where do our organs belong? Do any of these organs work together? What are body systems, and what critical jobs do different parts perform?

Literacy: Non-Fiction Text Features

  • Began identifying key non-fiction text features (such as headings, diagrams, captions, and glossaries).
  • Learned how these visual tools help us navigate text, locate specific facts quickly, and deepen our reading comprehension.

Mathematics: Place Value

  • Continued exploring how numbers are represented using standard form, expanded form, word form, and base-ten blocks.
  • Deepened our understanding of number structures and the precise value of digits within multi-digit numbers.

Classroom Community & PYP Skills

  • Classroom Responsibilities: Continued with our official student job roles to build ownership and shared responsibility in our space.
  • Social-Emotional Regulation: Focused on mindful transitions between tasks and maintaining active listening during carpet time.
  • Self-Management: Practiced staying focused on task goals and using our independent work time wisely.
