Dear KG2 Families,
As always, we are happy to share a little update about our learning and the lovely moments we have shared during our third week together.
It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more familiar with our classroom expectations and growing more confident during group work. They are learning to move from one station to another, work with their friends, and enjoy different learning experiences together.
In Phonics, we introduced the letter “S s.” The children enjoyed listening to a story and singing the letter S song. They also had lots of fun shaping the letter using playdough and creating an S collage by filling the letter with small pieces of paper. These activities helped develop their fine motor skills while making learning fun. One of the favourite activities was using their “magic finger” to write the letter S on their friends’ backs!
During Mathematics, we introduced the concept of “Tall and Short” using real-life examples from our classroom and everyday lives. We also enjoyed a Jack Hartmann song about tall and short, which helped the children understand and practise the concept through movement and music.
During our Unit of Inquiry, we continued exploring The Colour Monster and talked about different feelings. The children took part in “How Does My Heart Feel Today?”, where they placed their name under the feeling they were experiencing when they came to school. We also introduced our colour code for different feelings:
💛 Yellow – Happy
💚 Green – Calm
💙 Blue – Sad
🩷 Pink – Loved
❤️ Red – Angry
🩶 Grey – Scared
We also worked on our “We Belong” puzzle. Each child decorated one piece of the puzzle by drawing something that represents them. We then put all the pieces together to create one big puzzle. This helped us understand our big idea:
“I am part of our KG2 class. Everyone belongs, and every piece is important. We all belong to our class.”
It was lovely to see the children understand that although each of us is different, we are all an important part of our classroom community. ❤️
Last but not least, feel free to click on the link to enjoy some photos from our week and see the children learning, playing, and having fun together.
We wish you all a wonderful and restful weekend!
Warm regards,
Khadija & Ms.Maryam
