This week in grade 3:
Unit of Inquiry & Core Subjects
  • Who We Are Unit: Exploring the human body, body systems, and healthy choices; kicked off with a See–Think–Wonder Gallery Walk to gauge prior knowledge and build inquiry skills.
  • Literacy: Learning non-fiction text features and how they help readers find and understand information.
    • Writing we did pre-writing assessments for narrative and informational.
  • Math: Studying place value and number representation using standard form, expanded form, and number form.
Classroom & Community
  • Essential Agreements: Commitments to kindness, active listening, sharing, care for belongings, safety, mutual support, and open-minded learning.
  • Using our calm down spaces when we feel like our brain is getting flipped.
  • Not everyone needs a bandaid – That sometimes some students need more help in the class on some days than the other.
  • iPad Policy: Devices stay at school to keep them fully charged and ready for lessons (families will be notified if home use is required).

  • September 6 – October 14: ASA Round 1 begins.
  • September 15: Parent Coffee Morning (8:00 AM – 9:30 AM).
