Grade 3C had a busy, exciting week launching our first Who We Are unit, diving into non-fiction texts, and exploring place value!

Unit of Inquiry: Human Body & Healthy Choices

  • Gallery Walk: Students kicked off the unit by rotating through images and models of the human body in small groups, sharing observations, and asking big questions.

  • Skill Building: This hands-on activity let students share prior knowledge while sharpening their communication, thinking, and self-management skills.

Literacy: Non-Fiction Features

  • Explored key differences between fiction and non-fiction texts.

  • Looked at finding the main idea in a short text and sequencing events in order.

Mathematics: Place Value

  • Explored how numbers are represented in standard form, expanded form, word form, and using base ten blocks.

  • Deepened our understanding of the value of each digit within a number.

Classroom Community

  • Discussing which jobs would be helpful for our classroom and giving that responsibility to the students.
  • Continued creating a warm, welcoming, and supportive Grade 3C environment.

Family Thank You

  • Thank you to all Grade 3C families who joined us for the Parent-Teacher Orientation!

  • We appreciated hearing your thoughtful questions and concerns and will follow up in our Sunday newsletter.
