This week, our Secondary students have continued their Health-Related Fitness units, beginning to unpack the different areas of learning and exploring key concepts such as the principles of training and how these can be applied to improve fitness and performance.
Each grade has been focusing on a different aspect of the unit. Grade 7 students have been putting together personal fitness plans designed to improve their scores in their chosen areas. Grade 8 have been exploring nutrition and investigating how the food and drink we consume can impact health, fitness and sporting performance. Grade 9 students have been researching different training methods and considering how these can be used to develop specific components of fitness, while Grade 10 have been focusing on the health-related components of fitness and developing their understanding of how each contributes to overall health and wellbeing.
It has been great to see students becoming more independent in their learning and beginning to make connections between the theory they are studying and their own physical performance. Here are some photos of our Grade 8 students in action as they explore nutrition and its impact on performance.
