Dear Parents,
We have had a very productive and engaging week in our classroom, with students showing great focus, independence, and enthusiasm across all subject areas.
UOI
This week, students worked hard on advancing in their animal research projects.
It has been wonderful to see them:
-Deepen their understanding of their chosen animal
-Explore habitats, diets, and interesting facts
-Begin organising their ideas in a clear and meaningful way
The level of curiosity and effort has truly been impressive, and I am so proud of how committed they have been to their learning!
In case any one of them want to work on their a little this holiday, there is a list of everyone’s animal.
Literacy/English:
In English, we continued strengthening our phonics skills by focusing on vowel teams that make long and short sounds. This week, we explored:
- oo (as in moon and book)
- ew (as in few)
- ue (as in blue)
- ou (as in cloud)
Students practised:
- Recognizing these patterns in words
- Reading and spelling words with these sounds
- Listening carefully to identify the correct vowel team
You can support your child at home by encouraging them to spot these patterns while reading, practise spelling words, or even create their own silly sentences using these sounds.✏️
Maths: Time
In Maths, we have been continuing our work on telling the time ⏰
Students have been:
- Reading time to the hour, half hour, and beyond
- Understanding the relationship between hours and minutes
- Practising both analogue and digital time
To conclude this unit, students will complete a post-assessment when they are back from the break. This will help me see their progress and understanding.
As we get back we will be moving forward into our next unit on fractions ; an exciting new area of learning where students will begin to explore parts of a whole in fun and visual ways.
🌱 Looking Ahead
As we come back from the break we will:
- Continue building on our Unit of Inquiry learning
- Begin exploring fractions in Maths
- Keep strengthening reading, spelling, and writing skills
Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday ✨
And to those celebrating, Eid Mubarak! May it be filled with peace, joy, and special moments with your loved ones 🌙🤍
Warm regards,
Ms Cami 🌷
