Dear Primary Families,

This week, we enjoyed a lovely Iftar Supper at school on Tuesday evening. It was a well attended and special community event, and I would like to thank all the parents and families who were able to join us. There was a wonderful selection of food to share, and it was a pleasure to see everyone gathering together at this meaningful time of year.

One particular highlight for me was the delicious Omani dessert, Umm Ali. It reminded me very much of my mum’s bread and butter pudding, a traditional English dessert, and it was a lovely reminder of how food often connects cultures and memories. Coming together as a community felt especially meaningful this week.

During the week I also spent time visiting classrooms and seeing excellent examples of Approaches to Learning skills and Learner Profile attributes in action. In Grade 3, students were working on fractions during a maths lesson, showing strong thinking and communication as they explained their reasoning. In Grade 1, students were developing their understanding of 3D shapes by co-constructing a community using junk modelling. Watching the creativity and collaboration involved was impressive, and it also reminded me that art was never my strongest subject at school!

Wishing you all a pleasant and safe weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
