Dear Parents,

A special spotlight this week on Grade 10s, who have completed their IDU between French and English. They explored how “the structures and words we choose help express identity changes that arise when migrating.” Their final product was a blog combining poems in English and testimonies in French. The work they produced was genuinely impressive. They showed perseverance, especially navigating all those past tenses, really, how many does French need? hihi! More importantly, they shared openly about what migration meant to them, how it impacted who they are, and how their identity evolved. The vulnerability and honesty in their writing were deeply moving.

Grade 9s finished their unit on school and created strong infographics illustrating what a great school should look like. We are now moving on to technology, exploring the idea that “in order to optimise life and bring meaningful solutions, individuals create new products and voice their benefits to convince their target audiences.” Exciting discussions ahead.
They’ll design their own product and will have to pitch it to a Shark Tank Panel in French!

Grade 8s are almost ready to submit their final Airbnb listings. They have created their models, and some truly look amazing. A special mention to Sara for building an actual physical bedroom. Dedication at its finest!

Grade 7s can now confidently talk about the bonds that unite them to their families. After completing their summative writing on Sunday, they will move on to analysing what makes a good family documentary before creating their own.

DP students are diving into Art, and honestly, what a fantastic topic to weave in a bit of TOK thinking. Thoughtful conversations are definitely unfolding.

A week full of depth, creativity, and …. vulnerability.

Warm wishes,
Miss J
