This week in our Unit of Inquiry, we discussed what a community is and explored the different communities we belong to, including our class community, school community, and sports community. Students shared their ideas and made connections to their own lives. In our math centers, we explored 2D shapes and talked about their sides and corners through hands-on activities. The students enjoyed identifying and sorting shapes as they worked together. We also continued with our literacy centers and focused on informational writing. Using word banks, students began writing about people in our community who help us, building their vocabulary and confidence as writers.
Next week, we will begin exploring 3D shapes and start a new class project. For this project, we are asking families to please send in recyclable materials (such as clean boxes, cartons, tubes, and containers) to use in class. Please send any materials in as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!
