This week, many students have been fasting, so we have made thoughtful adjustments to our PE lessons to ensure everyone can participate safely and comfortably. In response, we have modified the intensity of activities and focused on approaches that require less continuous physical exertion. We have taken this opportunity to introduce students to cricket, with a particular emphasis on decision-making and tactical awareness. Rather than prioritising high levels of physical movement, lessons have centred on understanding the rules, positioning, and strategic choices within the game. This has allowed students to remain engaged while conserving their energy throughout the lesson.

By slowing the pace and breaking the game down into manageable scenarios, students have been able to think more carefully about batting options, field placements, and game situations. Discussions around tactics and rule application have encouraged deeper understanding and improved game intelligence. Students have responded positively to this approach, demonstrating thoughtful participation and growing confidence in their decision-making. As their understanding of the rules becomes more secure, I will begin adapting and modifying them to further challenge students’ thinking. These adaptations will encourage quicker analysis, smarter tactical choices, and greater awareness during gameplay situations.
