Dear Parents,
RAMADAN KAREEM TO ALL ABIS FAMILY!
At Al Batinah International School (ABIS), our Physical Education (PE) program is designed to support the development of the whole child. This means we focus not only on physical skills, but also on students’ confidence, wellbeing, cooperation, safety awareness, and lifelong healthy habits.
Throughout the year, students experience PE in learning blocks, which include:
- Games and team activities
- Individual pursuits
- Adventure and challenge activities
- Gymnastics and movement
- Striking and fielding activities
- Swimming
Each unit helps students grow in different ways. For example:
- Social development: learning teamwork, communication, and respect
- Emotional development: building confidence, resilience, and perseverance
- Physical development: improving coordination, fitness, and body control
- Personal responsibility: understanding safety, self-management, and healthy choices
This balanced approach ensures students develop as active, confident, and responsible individuals — not only as skilled performers.
After Ramadan, swimming lessons will begin for Grades 5–10.
Swimming is an important part of a balanced PE program at ABIS. At this point in the year, the pool timetable is prioritized for Grades 5-10 to ensure students continue developing water safety and aquatic competence.
For families who would like their children to continue improving their swimming skills, we will:
- Offer a Swimming ASA (After-School Activity) during the next ASA session after Ramadan.
- Continue to support access to Nautilus Swim School, which operates at ABIS. This is a paid programme, and many families choose it for additional skill development and practice.
Our goal is always to provide a well-rounded PE experience while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
Thank you very much for your understanding and continued support.
