Dear Primary Families,
As we come to the end of Week 16 and finish school today for our three-week winter break, it feels like a good moment to pause and reflect on a busy and successful term.
This week, we enjoyed three days of Sports Days, beginning with KG1–Grade 1 on Monday, followed by Grades 2–6 on Tuesday, and finishing with Grades 7–12 yesterday. These days were full of energy and enthusiasm — even when the weather threatened to dampen spirits for a while! It was wonderful to see students demonstrating teamwork, determination, and encouragement for their friends and peers. The smiles across all three days were a highlight and a fitting way to lead us into the winter break.
I would like to thank our students, teachers, classroom assistants, and parents for all their efforts and support so far this year. There have already been many highlights — including recent concerts, a range of field trips, and, most importantly, the consistent learning and progress taking place across classrooms every day. It has been rewarding to see students grow in confidence, skill, and independence as the year has unfolded.
After the break, we have much to look forward to, including our upcoming IB Evaluation visit at the end of January, as well as the next stages of learning across the Primary School.
As we head into the holidays, I wish all families a wonderful break. To those celebrating, I wish you a Merry Christmas. For families travelling within or beyond Oman, I wish you safe journeys, and for those staying closer to home, I hope the break provides time to rest and recharge. I would also like to offer a special farewell to any students and families who will be leaving ABIS — thank you for being part of our community, and we wish you every success in your next chapter.
I will be travelling to England over the break and am very much looking forward to spending time with my children, Jacob and Annabel, as well as reconnecting with friends and family back home.
Thank you once again for your continued support this term. I look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break — either on Sunday, 11th January, or Monday, 12th January, depending on the confirmation of the possible holiday.
Best regards,
Matthew
