Dear Primary Families,

KG1 – Grade 2 Winter Concert
This week, we enjoyed the KG1–Grade 2 Winter Concert, an occasion that showcased the talents and confidence of our youngest learners. Preparing for a performance of this kind requires courage, and our students demonstrated the IB Learner Profile attribute of being risk-takers as they sang, danced, and spoke in front of a large audience.
We also recognise the thoughtful planning involved in preparing students for such events while still maintaining meaningful learning across classrooms and specialist lessons. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Mino and to all homeroom and specialist teachers for their support and dedication. Events like this help lead us into the winter season with a wonderful sense of community and celebration.

Art Show

Please find time to visit the LC3 Cafe area to enjoy the artwork that is on display. Thank you to Ms. Sanaa for all her efforts with the students as they have developed their skills to produce such a creative and impressive collection of work.

Learning in Classrooms
I have spent much of this week in classrooms, observing lessons and speaking with teachers about the learning and teaching taking place across the Primary School. It has been a pleasure to see such purposeful engagement:

  • Grade 3 students were developing their reading skills through an exploration of extreme weather, and were also considering what Action they might take to share their learning with others.
  • Grade 4 students were inquiring into different types of materials and their properties, and applying strong thinking and communication skills during their maths lessons.
  • In Grade 5, students were investigating the concept of volume and learning how it can be calculated in different contexts as well as inquiring into ethical and fair trade.
  • Grade 6 students were deeply immersed in their PYP Exhibition inquiries, showing independence, curiosity, and commitment as they move further into their personal investigations.

Next week, I will be spending time visiting the younger grades, and I look forward to the reflective conversations these classroom visits always inspire.

Wishing all families an enjoyable weekend.

Best regards,

Matthew
Primary Team Lead
