Dear ABIS Families,

Today was a special day for our whole school community as we celebrated Oman National Day together. This morning’s assembly brought students from across all grade levels onto one stage, showcasing traditional dress, music, and performances that honoured the rich heritage of Oman. My sincere thanks to our Arabic team for organising such a warm and joyful celebration. It was a wonderful reminder of how fortunate we are, as an international school, to be part of Oman’s story and to share in the traditions of our host nation.

For many of our students, Oman is the country they proudly call home, and for others it is a second home where they learn from and appreciate different cultures. Events like today highlight the spirit of unity and respect that defines our school, and they reinforce the values of international-mindedness we strive to nurture.

I would also like to acknowledge another significant accomplishment this week. Two of our students represented ABIS in the Holy Qur’an Competition at the Sohar Governorate level, competing alongside more than 125 schools from across the region, government, private, international, and mountain schools. It was an exceptionally competitive field, yet our students rose to the challenge with maturity and commitment.

  • Talal Hassan Al-Zaabi achieved 8th place, and

  • Rana Salem Al-Saidi earned 12th place.

Both demonstrated admirable perseverance, and their results speak to the effort they have put in over time. We are very proud of them. I also extend my sincere appreciation to their families, whose steady support and involvement make achievements like this possible.

Earlier this week, another group of students had the exciting opportunity to visit Oman Radio in Muscat as part of The Little Reader competition. They spoke confidently about the books and poems they have been reading and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being inside a real radio studio. My thanks to Ms Karima for coordinating this wonderful opportunity.

In the primary school, our Grade 6 students officially began their PYP Exhibition journey. The energy and curiosity already visible in their classrooms set the tone for what promises to be a meaningful and memorable learning experience.

Next week, from Sunday to Tuesday, our annual Book Fair will take place in the LC3 building. Parents are warmly invited to visit during school hours until 4 pm and explore the selection of books. Encouraging reading at home remains one of the simplest and most powerful ways families can support their children’s learning.

We are also looking forward to our Winter Concerts:

  • KG1–Grade 2: Thursday, 4 December, 12:00–1:00 pm

  • Grade 3–6: Wednesday, 10 December, 5:00–6:00 pm

These events are always a highlight and a celebration of our students’ creativity.

A reminder that school will be closed next Wednesday and Thursday for the National Day holiday.

I wish all our families a safe, enjoyable long weekend and hope you have the chance to celebrate with loved ones.
