It has been a busy and exciting week in Grade 5 as we prepare for the culmination of our current Unit of Inquiry on forces and motion. Students have been developing their own scientific investigations, exploring questions they were curious about and applying what they have learned. They have each created a hypothesis, planned a fair test, conducted their experiments, and recorded their results carefully.

We are very proud of their efforts and can’t wait to share their work at our Science Fair on Sunday, which will take place in the Mazoon. Families are warmly invited to see the students present their investigations and explain their learning.

Alongside this, students have been strengthening their understanding of measurement in maths and applying this knowledge to support their science experiments. In literacy, our focus on procedural writing has helped students clearly communicate their investigation steps and findings.

Looking ahead, next week will be a shorter one as we celebrate the upcoming National Day holiday. We’ll take time to reflect on our learning from the Science Fair and then begin our next Unit of Inquiry, which explores how the choices people make when producing and buying goods can either help or harm communities and the environment.

Best wishes,
Mr. G & Miss Megan
