Dear Roblox parents,
What a fantastic week we have had in our Roblox classroom!
We are quite close with wrapping up our acrostic poems, and the students had such a great time coming up with creative sentences for each letter. They also worked on designing their community spaces, thinking deeply about what makes a community healthy and how different elements contribute to our overall well-being.
Our week was extra special because the students practiced for their Assembly in the Mazoon on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and their performance today was a big success! Thank you to all the parents who came to cheer them on. Your presence truly makes a huge difference, the kids were so proud and excited to see you in the audience.
In our Unit of Inquiry, our focus has been on how communities support both people and animals in living happy, healthy, and comfortable lives.
In Math, we focused on adding and subtracting (in place value) of two digit numbers. Ask your child to show you what they know.
Next week, our UOI will focus on completing our community space designs. At the end of the week, we will collaborate as a class to choose two new items we would love to see added to the ABIS play areas. Then, we will write a letter to the Head of School explaining our ideas and why they would be great additions. I cannot wait to see what creative suggestions the students come up with and what the response will be!
In English next week, we will be diving into nonfiction texts about different types of communities. Hopefully, these texts will spark even more inspiration for their community projects!
In phonics, we will work on short and long vowels, which we did not look at this week.
For Math, we will review number bonds up to 20, continue working with addition, and revisit 2D shapes. By the end of the week, students will complete an exit ticket on 2D shapes so we can move on to 3D shapes after the holiday break.
