I woke up really excited last Sunday because I was looking forward to seeing all of our lovely students return to ABIS. It was a different feeling this year because I am no longer a newbie and already know most of my new Advisory students, which felt really good!
This week, in our sessions, we have worked on creating our essential agreement lists for the year and thinking ahead to our Service As Action. The students thought about ways in which they could make a big impact, serving ABIS and the local community through different projects, initiatives, and awareness campaigns. Watch this space for some of their innovative and creative ideas as the weeks progress!
This morning in PSHE, we reflected on what ‘side of the battery’ we want to be on in relation to positive and negative behaviours, attitudes, conduct, and choices. This got them thinking about themselves as citizens at ABIS and then extended to their families and beyond. We will revisit this weekly and get them to reflect on things they have done well and things they can improve on.
We have had 3 new students start in G8 this year and so I want to congratulate them on successfully navigating their first week, they have all done really well and seem to be settling in nicely!
