Dear Primary Families,
This week, we built towards World Maths Day, which we celebrated in Primary on both Wednesday and Thursday. A huge thank you to Ms. Amy, Ms. Sri, and Ms. Stephanie for leading the planning and organization of these fantastic events and activities.
It was wonderful to see students from Grades 2, 4, and 6 teaching their peers across Primary a variety of math games and activities. My personal favorite was ‘Calculator’, where I played against a partner while wearing a playing card on my forehead. The challenge was to determine my card based on a given number fact. While I lost the first round, I’m pleased to report that I did much better in the later rounds.
This morning, we wrapped up with a giant game of ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’. The game began with all students from Grades 1–6 paired up, competing in each round until half were eliminated. After much fun and excitement, we finally had a winner – congratulations to Tameem! This activity was a great way to explore probability in real-life situations—what were the chances of winning overall or even progressing through a few rounds?
Looking Ahead
After the break, we have a busy period ahead. Please take note of the key reminders below. In particular, I’d like to highlight the amended start date for the final round of ASAs, which will now be a 7-week session beginning on Sunday, 13th April. Also, please mark your calendars for our upcoming Student-Led Conferences (SLCs)—a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your child in their learning space and celebrate their progress together.
As we approach the end of Ramadan and the Eid holiday, I’d like to wish you all a joyous and restful break. I know many of you will be celebrating with family and friends, and I hope it’s a special time for you all.
Best regards,
Matthew
