Dear Primary Families,

Phew! When writing last week, I referenced last year’s Oman Week and the challenges we faced due to the rain. I spent last weekend with my fingers crossed, hoping that this year would not present the same issues. Thankfully, this week has been a great success, and I am delighted that we made it through without a drop of rain!

While KG1 will be heading off on a beach trip next week and the Grade 1 students had their trips earlier, all our other primary grades have been out at some point this week and have also participated in activities and events on campus. We have had day trips to various places, including the beach, Sangar Park, Sohar Fort, Sohar University, and Bayt Qasra, as well as overnight trips to Barcelo, Mussanah, and Muscat.

I joined the Grade 4 and 5 trips and thoroughly enjoyed being part of their groups as they spent time in Mussanah and Muscat. These overnight trips truly provide students with opportunities to apply their developing social, self-management, communication, and thinking skills. They must process many instructions, synthesize new information, and take responsibility for their actions, choices, and belongings.

During our time away, some students occasionally needed reminders to follow the agreements. However, as always, these moments became valuable opportunities for reflection, learning, and growth.

My highlights this week were definitely the water park at Barcelo, the Royal Opera House visit, and rolling downhill in the giant inflatable ball at Snow Oman!

I would like to thank all the students for their enthusiastic participation throughout the week, the teachers and assistants for their dedicated efforts in preparing for it, and, of course, you—the parents—for your support.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Best regards,

Matthew
Primary Team Lead
