This feels like it might have been the busiest week in Grade 5 all year! It’s been non-stop! What a phenomenal way to end the week, with Grade 5 doing the closing performance at this week’s Summer Concert! Thank you to all the parents who came to support this, as always, it was great to see you!

We started the week celebrating the Primary Art Exhibition by attending workshops led by Ms Sanaa and the Grade 5 students. Face painting was popular and so were the various activities set up. In maths we learned how to use the ‘VH strategy to add fractions with different denominators. In writing we prepared lists of equipment and shopping ahead of The Great Grade 5 Cook Off 2024, then we went into the kitchen to clean the work stations, then find and clean the equipment needed for each group.

Tuesday morning we went shopping to Lulus. The staff loved having us there and were very friendly, helpful, and enjoyed interacting with the students. We then took the groceries back to the design kitchen, and stored them ready for Wednesday. Grade 3 were having a bake sale to raise money for the Children’s Ward of Sohar Hospital, so we enjoyed some delicious treats at snack time and lunchtime.

Wednesday was absolutely non-stop! We started the morning by visiting the Grade 6 Comic Con. Students met the authors and learned all about the writing process behind the comics that were wonderfully produced and presented. Then we were off to Mazoon for a final rehearsal for the Summer Concert. Then it was the moment we had all been waiting for: The Great Grade 5 Cook Off 2024! The teams did an amazing job of preparing and cooking their meals, and they were absolutely delicious and enjoyed by all. Students did a wonderful job of cleaning up the kitchen behind themselves, and we returned back to the classroom just in time for P.E. Please watch this great movie that was filmed and put together for us by Feline from Grade 6!
