Reading the responses to the ‘homework letter’ it is evident that a lot of thought has gone in to writing some of them. Just like the original letter that the children received, the replies were thought provoking and persuasive in their own right. During our unit of inquiry four different body systems took center stage. They explained their role within the human body and went on to detail the manner in which their system is interconnected with the rest. As we prepare to move on to multiplication and later division, we worked on solidifying our understanding of fractions. In doing so we discovered that finding the fraction of a set (for example finding 1/4 of 20) requires us to know our multiplication and division facts.
