Dear Primary Families,
I have been away from school for some days this week as I travelled to Beijing to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from Grade 12. I feel very fortunate that I was able to attend and it was wonderful to be part of the culmination of her IB journey through the PYP, MYP, and now DP. The celebrations were a reminder of why I chose to move into the IB system as a teacher – and parent – so many years ago.
This evening I will attend the graduation ceremony for our ABIS Grade 12 students and celebrate the end of their time as IB students. The attributes and skills learnt and developed through their time in the IB programmes will hopefully set them up to be successful lifelong learners and internationally-minded global citizens. I wish all our graduating students the very best as they embark upon the next phase of their lives.
Focusing back on the primary section, classes and grade levels are bringing units to a close and finalising end of year assessments. Teachers have been working hard to complete the end of year reports which will be issued on the last day of school. The Mazoon has been filled with the sound of music as students continue to practise and prepare for next Thursday’s Summer Concert – I am sure it will be a wonderful occasion.
Next week we will look forward to our Primary Art Exhibition that will take place on Sunday, the Grade 6 to Grade 7 Bridging Day on Monday, the Grade 6 Comic Con that will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the Grade 3 bake sales that will raise funds for the children’s ward at the Sohar Hospital. It really is a busy couple of weeks ahead!
Thank you for your continued support. I wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend.
