After investigating different heroes throughout history, around the world, and in literature, Grade 4 has been busy writing their own stories of heroes. Before starting their draft, each student was asked to think about a few key questions: What makes a hero? What traits might a hero possess? How might these traits lead them to be heroic? Using the quote below as a conversation starter, we discussed how ordinary people can become heroes out of conflict and difficult circumstances. This was the inspiration for our hero stories.
Our next step was to plan and draft our hero stories. Students then shared with partners to get individual feedback and help. We will be publishing these drafts next week, so stay tuned! I can’t wait to read them.
