Assessments measure students’ knowledge and understanding of concepts, and application of skills, strategies and movement concepts, etc. This week, our students completed their badminton skills assessment. They were assessed against a rubric with specific criteria for the students to apply and perform to achieve their grades.
It is a misconception that physical and health education is only about playing games and having fun – students must apply and demonstrate a range of skills including creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking in PHE. Below is a sample of an assessment rubric used by teachers to determine a students’ grade:
