In Upper Primary this week, we are embracing inter-house competition in physical education to conclude our unit on invasion games. Specifically, students in Grades 4-6 will actively participate in a handball tournament, showcasing their teamwork skills. This involves working collectively, assuming various roles and responsibilities, planning and playing together to achieve success. It entails strategizing as a team and playing tactically by leveraging the strengths of all players. Together, they work towards success, both in attack and defense. They assume positions, develop supportive positional play, and move strategically to receive the ball, build attacks with teammates, and set up scoring opportunities for their fellow players. The team actively supports the ball-carrier by creating diverse passing options through well-coordinated spatial movements.
In Lower Primary, our young learners have been immersed in enjoyable and active experiences through Cooperative games. These activities emphasize collaborative play, where players work in unison to attain common objectives. The primary goal of cooperative games is to reduce the emphasis on competition and enhance the social aspects of teamwork. Learning to cooperate instills a core set of skills that are essential in various other forms of games and activities.
