Good afternoon Grade 2SB Parents,
This week we have begun our new unit of inquiry: Where we are in place and time – homes and journeys. We are in the Tuning in and Finding out phase of the inquiry cycle. Students have been introduced to different homes around the world by analysing pictures and discussing what materials were used for the buildings, where they might be and why they look like they do. Grade 2 are working altogether and in small groups throughout this unit and we will be focusing on:
- types of houses around the world
- ways houses meet our needs and wants
- similarities and differences in houses around the world

We have begun building our reading boxes by adding books at a good-fit level so we always have something to read during our literacy time. During our reading sessions, students will focus on building their fluency, developing their comprehension and expanding their vocabulary.
In maths, we have begun reviewing the names of 2D shapes and have continued working on identifying patterns.
The students are all looking forward to the long weekend and are ready for some time with their family and friends.
