This week has been full of learning and students have settled in well to their new routines. I begin my post with some pictures from our assembly last week where our gymnastics teamed performed. Mr C has continued to give generously with his time and these girls have achieved some amazing feats which they shared with us.
This display was followed by another rousing performance of the ABIS school song led by our two very enthusiastic music teachers, Miss Camp and Mr G.
It’s great to see literature circles taking place as part of our language programme.Literacy cirlces encourage students to delve deeper into texts they read and to learn how to make inferences. These can be teacher led or student driven.
Maths is is a big focus for the primary school this year. Mr Davis is joining grade 6 to assist them during their math lessons. He loves the tricky problem solving questions which require students to apply their learning to new situations.
Some of our grade 1 students are learning about place value. This is a very important concept which helps students to add/subtract, multiply and divide larger numbers. Knowing that a digit has a different value depending on which place it holds as part of a number helps students to manipulate numbers and solve problems.
The library is continuing to be developed as a learning hub and children are encouraged to use this space in their breaks.
Shared Reading is a great way to engage children young and old.
