Hello All,

I have had the wonderful opportunity of getting to know our Grade 4 students this week. There are a wonderful group of students, and I am even more excited than ever to work with them this school year!

We began the week by doing icebreakers and team building activities so students and I could begin getting to know each other and building a rapport. Relationship building is key for students to learn, grow, and thrive in the classroom. Students completed a writing project after reading a book called First Day Jitters that the students are very excited to share with their parents. In addition, we started to assess students’ understanding of numeracy by reviewing place value concepts.

Please keep in mind the first quarter begins a little slow as we are assessing students, developing essentials agreements, and developing our classroom routines and expectations together. No need to worry as learning tasks will get increasingly difficult as we progress through the school year. Students in my class will be working in collaborative learning groups so please remind your child to be kind and work well with their teammates and as always to come to school ready to learn and on their best behavior.

Looking forward,

Mr. Jaymz
