This week students started working on their summative assessments for UOI 4 Sharing the Planet -Ecosystems. Students chose an ecosystem of interest and partners were made based on their choices. In pairs students will be going through the inquiry process independendantly. I will be checking in with each group periodically to assess their learning and check in on their progress. Our big focus for this inquiry is being able to apply our research skills and communicate our findings clearly. Students have had to make their own research questions based on the 3 key concepts of this unit (connection, causation and responsibility) and have had to find their own resources! All groups are deep into their research and most have found enough information to anwser half of their questions already. Next week we will be sorting through our information, making conclusions and taking action from our learning. In Math this week we spent more time on addition and subtraction strategies and next week we will be moving on to fractions. Students also continued writing funny persuasive pieces this week.
