For each art project over the year, after completing some initial learning tasks for homework, G7 and G8 students will receive an Extended Art Homework Project brief to create a piece of art over an extended period of time, in this case over five weeks until December 15th. This will allow students to be as creative as possible, considering and developing ideas as well as elaborating and refining their work to the extent of their abilities over this generous time-period, thus being able to create a piece of art to their best possible quality and gain good satisfaction from it. The tasks are related to their class topics, and consist of starting points with various options open to individual expression and for different tastes. A3 is a good size to work on, but students who prefer more detailed work may work on A4 and students who relish the challenge may work on a larger scale! No special materials are required – paper is supplied and students only need to use pencils and coloured pencils. However, they may use any other material such as paint, collage, pastels and so on if they so wish. Students will have to show their progress each week by taking a photograph of their work on their iPad.
