We have started looking at books at different levels and each student had a turn to read today.
When students start to read it is normal for them to look at the pictures and make up their own sentences or guess the words. Eventually when students become more familiar with phonetic sounds and beginning sounds in words, they will start focusing on what they are reading and start to sound out words. It is very important that the students enjoy ” reading” and develop a love for books.
