Keeping up-to-date on current events is an important part of citizenship. Whether we read the newspaper, go to news websites, or watch the news on TV, understanding what’s going on in the world helps us make sense of things and better allows us to have informed, meaningful conversations.

This is equally true for children and we, as adults, have a responsibility to help kids stay informed and process the news. This is not just important for their studies–current events often become very relevant in school discussions–but also for their development as global citizens.

FYI…all secondary students have the excellent, concise BBC News app on their iPads. A great place to start!
