Week two in the Primary School has been buzzing with lively anticipation as children have settled into routines and work has started in earnest. It has been especially nice to watch new students settle in – smiling at everyone, saying hello and developing friendships in their year groups.
Teachers have been leaping into their class’ Programme of Inquiry, and if you have the chance, have a peek at the classroom walls – you can already see evidence of children tuning in and finding out about their first topics. Students are already talking about their initial understandings, posing questions and planning strategies to solve problems or find out answers.
The first coffee morning happened this week and was a great success. Hosted especially to welcome our new parents, this morning featured an ice breaker hosted by one of our returning parents (well done, Ella!). It was, simply put, a lot of fun and lasted until almost ten a.m. Stay tuned for the next coffee morning coming up in a few weeks time!
This week our lovely Miss Eiman at the front desk did an immense amount of work sorting out the After School Activities return pages and had everything ready to hand back today. Activities start on Sunday and we are looking forward to a fun filled series of weeks. Please note that if your child is ill or unable to attend an activity, it is important we know in advance so teachers running the activity can be informed.
Coming up: Book Week! Ms. Simpson has been working hard preparing an exciting programme for the week of September 21st to 25th. Stay tuned for more details!
Finally, today’s Primary School Assembly was a big hit – Mr. Carberry put in a guest appearance to talk about houses, house points and a rather large and shiny trophy. Grade five students shared house cheers with children and parents and lastly, Miss Camp shared a song that celebrated the team spirit of all of ABIS.
Next week promises to be as exciting! I look forward to seeing you over the week as you drop off your children or stop by to say hello. May your weekend be cool-ish, relaxing and full of family fun.
