Hi everyone,
This week we have been focussing on what makes an effective presentation. We assessed some bad ones and good ones and designed a rubric to help guide and assess our own work.
In IT we have been building our own websites so that we can showcase all our work and learning extra skills such as downloading and editing music and video files.
In Language we have been exploring different poetry styles: Homophone poetry, Found poetry and Senses poetry around the theme of nature) – we will be displaying these on our websites.
In Mathematics we have been looking at the use of fractions of numbers and the equivalence of fractions, decimals and percentages. Everyone showed how their confidence in mathematics has grown since the start of the year (1 = low 5 = high).
In Unit we have been exploring what a system means and defining the meaning of ecosystems, aswell as looking at complex food webs and the vocabulary to explain them (producer, consumer (primary and secondary), decomposer, predator, prey, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, abiotic, biotic, tertiary). We are starting to explore what might threaten an ecosystem and its biodiversity and if everything is interdependent and connected, what could upset the balance?
