As well as having fun dressing up each day for Spirit week, Grade 3 have worked together to produce a plan for our mini business. With some help from a few adults we found a shop that could print our products with the design we created in Oman Week.

We had to do lots of maths to work out the cost to purchase and print the goods printed. Once we knew the cost of each item, we then worked in small groups to agree on the price to charge our customers. There was lots to think about such as the notes people might pay with and what price customers would be happy to pay.

Next we worked out how much profit we could make if we sold 60 items of each product. We decided we didn’t need to make much profit but we hope to make enough to buy some games we could use at school in the hot weather when we are playing inside.
We were very excited to see the first samples of our product. Deciding which coloured design to have on the carry bag was a big decision. We recorded our preferences and then some people undertook ‘market research’ by asking people around the school, which design they liked the most.

Next it was time to think about marketing, who would be our customers and how could we sell them these items without having a real shop. We made our own advertisements to take home to our families.
It has been a busy and exciting week. We were relieved that despite having to prepare for going online, we managed to have our marketing ready to share with our families before we left for Spring Break.
Although we felt excited about the long weekend ahead, many of us feel sad about not being able to come to school in person after the break. At least we can still see each other online!

Here are some more pictures of this week at school.

But wait…there’s more!
