As part of our unit of inquiry into ancient civilizations and how artifacts help us learn about the past, Ms Fiona visited grade 3 as a special guest. Ms Fiona is a qualified archaeologist and has worked on important digs in Italy and the UK.
During the presentation students were able to examine artifacts from 2000 years ago. They handled pottery and viewed very delicate glass. Students discovered the special tools used by archaeologists to carefully remove the items from the ground. The presentation has inspired the students to find out more about artifacts from different cultures and how they inform us about the past.
