Hi everyone,

This week has been all about how we comprehend the massive numbers and distances in space.  We completed lots of activities to help us understand the scale of each object in our solar system – we linked our work in mathematics to our space unit by using scale to demonstrate the relative size of planets and distances from the sun.

In language we have been focusing on vocabulary, presenting, speaking and listening to the views of others and how “synergy” (together we achieve more than working alone) helps us get even more information. We discussed a range of information texts about Pluto; what essentials we would take on a space mission and how to use complex vocabulary in a movie explaining how the Sun, Earth and Moon travel and affect our days and season. Ask G5 students to explain it to you using the words orbit, rotate, elliptical, hemisphere, axis and tilt. You’ll be really impressed with their knowledge.

Have a wonderful weekend.

G5 Teaching team.
