Unit of Inquiry – Culture
Cultural Symbols
We started work on researching and creating a cultural symbol poster. We found out about the flags, national plants, sports and animals etc. associated with one of the countries in which we have lived.

Show and Tell – Cultural Artefacts.
We have continued to bring in objects that hold some cultural significance to share with the class.

Science – Scientific Drawings
We have continued to practise drawing butterflies as accurately as possible. After each draft students break into smaller groups and give each other feedback on how to improve the accuracy of their drawing for the next draft. Some students are already on to draft four!!!

Maths – 2-D and 3-D Shapes
We have been identifying attributes of shapes, looking at nets and constructing out own 3-D shapes as well as sorting, grouping and naming shapes.

Literacy – Writing
Show Don’t Tell
We explored what our bodies and faces do when we experience different emotions.  We used this learning to improve our writing so that we can show how a character is feeling by describing them physically, rather than just telling the audience / reader which emotion is being experienced. The writing that was produced as a result was truly impressive.
