When the big day arrived this week for online learning, I am sure that teachers, parents and students were excited, but at the same time felt a little apprehensive. I need not have worried, because at 8:20 am on Sunday I was welcomed online to a class of smiling faces ready to greet their new teacher.
The students at ABIS learnt quickly about our morning routines that covered registration and standing to the National Anthem. We even tried brain gym with Mr Mike leading the exercise, I was exhausted afterwards. The first week was productive and used to create a class contract that everyone was happy with. The students shared many great ideas that included behaviour to help them achieve their best, and ideas to make the online learning environment successful.
We naturally encountered technical problems, but together we overcame them. The students were patient when my computer camera did not work. Students went to the wrong room and came back to see me to ask a question. Everything was approached with a little humor and flexibility. I am very excited to be part of the Grade 3 team and a group of fantastic students. Enjoy your weekend, you deserve it.
